We’re closing our store for a new beginning

As a loyal customer, we want to assure you that the Mighty Leaf Tea brand you know and love is not changing or disappearing. We are dedicated to maintaining the same level of service you have come to expect from us. While you’ll no longer be able to shop on, on September 26th our products, including a wide range of your favorite tea bags, loose tea, and tea accessories will be available at our new official home on


Is Mighty Leaf going out of business? Is Peet’s buying Mighty Leaf?

Mighty Leaf is not going out of business. Our brand has been a part of the Peet’s Coffee family since 2015. This migration of our e-commerce business to the platform allows us to focus on both product lines together and improve your online experience, giving you access to all our products (tea, coffee and the best accessories) on one website and under one account.

Does this mean all Mighty Leaf teas will now be available at Will you still carry my favorite tea? already has a great selection of Mighty Leaf teas and tea accessories and we will be bringing over even more as part of this transition. We still have limited quantities of many of our discontinued teas available in our Clearance sale, which you can purchase before September 26th. What’s going to happen to my Mighty Leaf Account and order history?

Starting on September 26th, your order history and mailing address(es) will be accessible on We’ll be sending a follow-up communication on that day with details on how to access your account on

If you are an existing customer, you can log in using your existing account and will see your Mighty Leaf and Peet’s order history merged together after September 26th.

What about my credit cards and payment information? does not store credit card or payment information, and therefore we will not be bringing over any payment information as part of this transition.

Will I start to get Peet’s emails? How do I unsubscribe?

If you are subscribed to the Mighty Leaf email newsletter, you will begin to receive communications from us under the Peet’s Coffee name after September 26th. You’ll be able to update your preferences to only hear about Tea news and can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our marketing emails. You will still receive transactional emails related to any orders placed on or if you unsubscribe.


What’s going to happen to your MyTea Rewards program?

Our MyTea Rewards program will be ending on September 26th, so spend any remaining MyTea points you have before our site closes! Not sure if you have any points? Login to Your Account on and visit the My Rewards section to view your MyTea Points balance. You can see the MyTea Rewards program details and terms here.

Will I be able to subscribe to tea on

Will your return and exchange policy be changing?

Our return and exchange policy will reflect the current policies after the transition. Full details on the Peet’s return and exchange policy can be read on the Peet’s website.

Will you still be giving free tea samples?

As of August 2018 our free tea sample program ended. We will not continue this program on, but may choose to re-evaluate this program in the future.

Is Mighty Leaf planning to offer a rewards program in the future now that MyTea Rewards points program is discontinued?

As of September 26th, Mighty Leaf will no longer have an independent rewards program.

If I buy Mighty Leaf tea online or at a Peet’s store, am I able to earn a reward if I am a Peetnik Rewards Member?

You’ll be able to earn Peetnik Rewards points when you check in and make purchases in our participating 240+ Peet’s Coffeebars nationwide. Purchases made online at are not currently eligible for Peetnik Rewards. To learn more about the Peetnik Rewards program, click here.

What is your tea pouch made of?

Our tea pouches are made from polylactic acid (PLA), which is derived entirely from renewable resources, such as corn.

Are the tea pouches compostable?

Mighty Leaf Tea Pouches are crafted from polylatic acid (PLA), which is derived entirely from renewable resources, such as corn. Our tea pouch material is commercially compostable. This means it can be composted only at commercial composting facilities. It will not compost in a backyard compost pile.

Commercial composting facilities use higher temperatures than backyard compost piles and are capable of handling the renewable PLA used in our tea pouch. Please look into commercial composting facilities in your area.

Where are your teas from?

Our tea are sourced from primarily from China, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Africa, and Taiwan.

Are all your teas organic?

Our organic teas are labeled with 'Organic' in the name.

Are your teas Kosher Certified?

Many of our teas are Kosher Certified. Please contact us for more information.

Are your teas gluten-free?

Mighty Leaf Tea and our Co-Manufactures, comply with the policies, standards and auditing requirements of the Gluten-Intolerance Group which allows MLT the privilege to use the Gluten-Free Certification symbol. The products which carry this symbol have been certified to meet their strict standards and provide assurances to those affected with gluten intolerances.

Do your teas contain any dairy?

The only teas that contain dairy are our Truffle Teas, some of which contain chocolate.  Otherwise, our teas are dairy-free.

What is the shelf life of your teas?

Approximately 1 ½ to 2 years.

How much tea is in one tea pouch?

Each pouch contains 2.5 grams (0.08oz)

How much water should I use for one tea pouch?

We recommend you use a 12 oz cup of water per pouch.

What is the difference between cello wrap & foil wrap?

Most of the pouches in our 15 count retail boxes are packaged in clear cello over wraps, made from recyclable material, which allows you to see the tea pouches inside. The information about the teas is on the box. The tea pouches in our 100 count boxes are wrapped in foil and are shipped in a plain brown box.  The foil packaging is photography based and also contains some information about that blend and our company on this wrap.   

How should I store my tea?

Keep in a dry and cool place. Keep away from the stove and do not store in the refrigerator or freezer. Also, keep away from other strong smell items.  Oxygen, moisture, and foreign aromas are all enemies to the delicate subtleness of tea.  It is important to store tea in an airtight container to protect them from exposure to light, humidity, and high temperatures.

How many cups of tea does a 4oz bag of loose yield?

Black tea yields approximately 35 – 40 cups (NOTE:  1 tsp per 12 oz cup)
Oolong tea yields approximately 25 – 30 cups (NOTE:  1 tbsp per 12 oz cup)
Herbal tea yields approximately 25 – 30 cups (NOTE:  1 tbsp per 12 oz cup)
Green tea yields approximately 25 – 30 cups (NOTE:  1 tbsp per 12 oz cup)

What is the difference between MLT and ML (Example: Green Tea Tropical & Green Tea Passion – are they the same?)

They have similar flavor profiles.  As we expanded in the wholesale market, we developed ML Tea, a line of fine dining teas, to cater to high-end restaurants and hotels.

The most popular taste profiles are available in both the ML and Mighty Leaf Tea lines. However, there are some blends exclusive to each line.

Although we developed ML for high-end, 5 Star restaurants and hotels, we wanted to make it available to consumers to purchase as well as the retail line.

What decaffeination process does Mighty Leaf use to decaffeinate its decaf teas?

We use a CO2 based process to decaffeinate our teas. Two of the major advantages of the CO2 process are that it does not leave a chemical residue and has minimal effect on the flavor and beneficial compounds inherent in the tea.

Is it safe to brew tea in the sun or to make what is often referred to as 'sun tea'?

Mighty Leaf does not recommend nor endorse the practice of making 'sun tea'. Steeping tea bags in a container of water in the sun can cause a higher risk than brewing tea at higher temperatures as it creates an environment where bacteria are more likely to survive and multiply. Tea and tea products must be heated at a high enough temperature to help in controlling any natural bacteria activity that can occur in the process of making tea.

Can I change or cancel to my order?

In most cases, we are not able to cancel or change orders after they are placed through this website.

The process of fulfillment begins soon after an order is placed, which leaves virtually no window for editing or canceling an order. Contact Customer Service at (877) 698-5323 immediately after placing an order, and we will do our best to accommodate these requests.

What is your return policy?

We want you to be satisfied with your order and we will gladly exchange or refund any tea items.  Please refer to our Return policy.

The promotion code or other coupon code did not work, why?

Promotional coupon codes may not be valid towards sale items, gifts, or teaware. The coupon code may case sensitive and may not work if they are copied and pasted. We make no guarantee on offers/coupons made on others’ (e.g. third-party) sites.

Can I get an order expedited?

Yes you can. Please see our Shipping & Returns page for rates.

NOTE: Orders shipped via Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air or 3-Day Day Air must be placed by 3PM ET (Noon PT) in order to be shipped same day. UPS does not deliver Mighty Leaf Tea Company orders on Saturday or Sundays.

Do you ship outside the US?

We currently have some international websites and in addition partner FedEx Cross Border to facilitate international shipments where necessary. For more information please visit our International Shipping page.

Do you sell or share any of my personal information?

No, we do not.

Why do I have to give my security code from credit card?

It is an extra step to insure the security of our customers.

Do you have a catalog?

We use our website as our catalog. 

Do you have gift cards/certificates?

Not at this time.

Can I try a sample of your product?

Free surprise samples will be included with every order.

Can I create my own samplers, use the teas I want?

No, we do not customize orders.  Our samplers are packaged with our most popular blends.

Can I include a note to the gift recipient with my order?

Yes, we do offer one complimentary gift note per order. The message must be included during the order process either online or over the phone. Online, the message field is located in the shipping tab. A note to the gift recipient cannot be added after the order has been confirmed. 

Can I place an order by check or money order?

We do not accept checks or money orders for purchases on our website.
